Josh Bellamy signs RFA tender with Bears

The Bears tendered a pair of wide receivers as restricted free agents this offseason and Cameron Meredith has seen signs of interest from other teams over the last few weeks.

Josh Bellamy‘s name hasn’t come up quite as often and he opted to end any chance of outside interest on Wednesday. Bellamy’s agent announced that Bellamy has signed his tender and will remain in Chicago.

Bellamy was given the lowest of three tenders and is set to make a salary of $1.907 million during the 2018 season.

Yet, somehow, the Nuggets pulled off a 126-117 win at Quicken Loans Arena. And the next morning, still in the fog from a string of late nights and lost sleep, Malone credited his players not just for beating the Cavaliers but for fighting through heavy fatigue.

“Sometimes, mentally, you have to find ways to fight through it and it’s not easy,” Malone said, “because some days you wake up, you literally wake up and you go, ‘What city am I in? Who are we playing tonight? And what happened last night?'”

It’s unclear precisely what Bell was referring to, but he may be blanching at suggestions that he’s looking for too much money. This year Bell is due $14.56 million if he plays on the franchise tag, but he hasn’t signed that tag because he’s hoping for a contract that pays him more.

When the season starts, and Bell is scoring touchdowns for the Steelers, Pittsburgh fans will surely cheer him. But in 2019 it won’t be surprising if Bell ends up in a place where he feels more appreciated.

In fact, NBA head coaches will say that traveling to Denver to play on the second night of a back-to-back set is the most feared travel scenario in the league, because of the higher elevation in Denver, the weather and the distance from the airport to downtown.
