Randy Gregory enters rehab while facing a longer suspension from NFL

Gregory played in 12 games for Dallas last season, finishing the year with just 11 tackles and no sacks. He might have been in line for more playing time this season, or maybe even a starting role, but the suspension certainly doesn’t help and could put his NFL career in jeopardy.

My understanding of Randy Gregory’s coming suspension is its for 10 games, at least. There is concern on #Cowboys that he may not play again

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) July 26, 2016
The Cowboys will also be without defensive Authentic Jarran Reed Jersey end Demarcus Lawrence for the first four games of the season, and linebacker Rolando McClain will miss the first 10 games. Gregory, Lawrence and McClain are all suspended for violations of the league’s substance abuse policy.

Allen became a footnote in one of the more memorable games of that season, one that ended a two-year winning streak for Florida State and sent Oregon to Authentic Jeremy Lane Jersey a National Championship it would lose to Ohio State. He had torn his right ACL, and his season was over. He returned nine months later, but his numbers fell off from 2014.

“Obviously, it’s a little frustrating as an athlete to be injured,” Allen said in an interview with SB Nation. “But I knew that eventually I would be okay. It just took time and a lot of extra stuff, a lot of extra work that I probably wouldn’t have done if I wasn’t hurt.”

Allen worked toward more than playing more football for the Ducks.
He’s also an Oregon track runner. He was 2014’s national champion in the 110-meter hurdles sprint. In early July, Allen won the U.S. Olympic Trial in the same race, winning a chance to represent America in Rio de Janeiro in August.

And he has even more goals.

“Making the National Championship — unfortunately I didn’t get to play, because I was injured — and then winning a national championship in track and field and making the Olympics in track and field, and hopefully in the future playing in the Super Bowl in the NFL, I think it’s just something that are really lofty goals,” Allen said. “But the way things are going now, I think that’s totally attainable.”

But he doesn’t compete in the 110-meter hurdle until Aug. 15, and if he qualifies out of a heat that night, he’ll run for a medal on the 16th.

That leaves Allen 10 days in Rio to relax and be something approximating a 21-year-old kid, taking in the Olympics with his family.

“Just enjoy myself and be kind of like a tourist,” he said. “But I don’t wanna be too touristy, because that’d take a lot of energy. But yeah, just check it out.”

Allen talks about his Olympic run calmly. His voice doesn’t convey an ounce of nervousness. He’s looking forward to watching swimming, diving, soccer and basketball and strolling around the Olympic village.

Kevin White has had it with Jay Cutler getting ‘bad rep for no reason’

Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White hasn’t seen the field yet after missing all of his rookie season, but he’s been with the team for more than a year now and doesn’t understand why everyone has something negative to say about Jay Cutler.

When White was drafted, he was warned that Cutler wasn’t a player that he’d get along with, but the 24-year-old receiver says it couldn’t be further from the truth.

But those 14 starts last season are the only starts of his career, which began in 2011 when the Ravens took him with a sixth-round pick. It’s not Kevin Hogan Jersey a lot to go on for contract talks at the game’s most premium, costly position. Don’t look for Andrew Luck money.

However, Taylor should probably send Brock Osweiler a thank you card once he does get his contract. Osweiler had a grand total of seven starts since being drafted in 2012, all last season filling in for an injured Peyton Manning. He got a four-year, $72 million deal from the Texans with $37 million guaranteed. That’s got to be the floor for Taylor’s deal with the Bills.

FAT TONY: Tony Romo is the new Fat Eddie Lacy. It sure Malcolm Johnson Jersey looked like Romo was jogging off a dad bod in a photo that surfaced on the internet this weekend. The guy who took the “fat Romo” photo said that he is not fat. It’s just the way the camera made him look.

SADDEST HOLDOUT EVER: DeAndre Hopkins ended his 24-hour holdout. That was quick. Houston’s receiver wanted more money. He’s making a million dollars this year, the second-to-last year of his rookie deal. But the Texans said they wouldn’t negotiate making it the most anticlimactic holdout ever.

Houston’s offense would be screwed without Hopkins, so I don’t wonder if he couldn’t have had a little more leverage as time went on. However, that also would’ve cost him more in fines, making it a potentially expensive gamble.

BROWN WANTS MORE MONEY: Antonio Brown says he deserves new deal from Pittsburgh Steelers. And he’s probably right since the game’s best receivers all make $14 million per year or more. Brown is making $6.25M this year, and his current deal goes through 2017. Hopefully, he wasn’t banking on Hopkins’ holdout to shake up the market though.

The Giants knew about Josh Brown’s domestic violence arrest when they re-signed him

Giants owner John Mara knew of allegations against Josh Brown and his arrest when they re-signed him. Mara stood by the team’s decision to re-sign Brown during a Wednesday media scrum. He went so far as to make it sound like the situation with Brown was different because “you very rarely have a Ray Rice video.”

News about Brown’s domestic violence arrest in 2015 and the related incident report in which Brown’s wife said he had been violent with her more than 20 times broke six days ago. This is the first time the Giants have acknowledged the matter.

The NFL’s handling of the Brown Tahir Whitehead Jersey situation is just as suspect. He got a one-game suspension, despite the league’s domestic violence conduct policy that calls for a minimum of six games upon the first offense.

Lee was one of three Jaguars players who drew penalties because they couldn’t control their emotions. Defensive tackle Malik Jackson was ejected early in the fourth quarter after being penalized twice for unsportsmanlike conduct in a four-play span. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey was ejected late in the fourth quarter after getting into an altercation with Raiders receiver Johnny Holton.

Jackson’s first unsportsmanlike conduct Tavon Wilson Jersey penalty came after he was flagged for roughing the passer. He disagreed with the call and the referee announced that Jackson used abusive language toward an official.

Jaguars receiver Marqise Lee was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct during Sunday’s 33-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders because he used a racial slur.

Lee said he used the N-word, but said he used it in response to several Raiders players also using it.

“It was back and forth,” Lee said. “In the midst of the game, emotion is going from both teams. It just so happened the ref heard me, so therefore I got the flag. I’ve got to fess up to it.”

The penalty occurred late in the third quarter after a 2-yard gain by Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon. Lee, who went to the sideline very upset after the penalty and had to be calmed down by several teammates, declined to name the Raiders players that used the slur that caused him to respond.

One game.

The league justified its decision saying that they didn’t have enough information “to corroborate prior findings.” Brown’s wife declined to be interviewed by the league. Regardless, the league’s one-game suspension doesn’t square with its policy in the face of Brown’s arrest.

So far, the Giants are publicly standing by Brown. However, they signed Randy Bullock in the wake of Brown’s suspension, ostensibly as his Week 1 replacement. Bullock has a one-year salary of $760,000, but because he’s a vested veteran, his full salary will be guaranteed if he’s on the roster in Week 1. It’s enough to make you wonder if the team isn’t prepared to cut Brown even though Mara said they would only do so for “football reasons.”

Freshman county Commissioner Sims isn’t waiting to make his feelings known on future appointments

GENESEE COUNTY, Michigan — Freshman county Commissioner Sims isn’t waiting to make his feelings known on future appointments by the county Board of Commissioners. The first-term Flint Democrat put his new colleagues on notice Tuesday that he push until Flint residents are appointed to positions numbers proportionate to Alan Ball Jersey their percentage of the county’s population. We’ve got to make sure the city of Flint is represented the different boards, Sims said after commissioners appointed one of their own — Fenton Democrat Lockwood — to the Senior Citizens Advisory Committee. The committee makes recommendations on how the county spends money raised by a senior citizens property tax. Sims had recommended Flint resident Black for the spot and asked for a report on the residency of current county appointees. He said other parts of the county seem to sit at the grown-up table while Flint residents are left at the kiddie table. Commissioners and new board Chiarman made several appointments to public boards and committees Tuesday at the commissioners regular meeting.

Investigation file reveals differences about specific command given by Ohio officers before Crawford III was shot dead Video footage of Crawford III moments before he was gunned down by police a Walmart Beavercreek, Ohio. Photograph: Guardian Witnesses to the deadly police shooting of a black who was holding unloaded BB gun Ohio Walmart have contradicted officers’ claims about the specific command they gave him the moments before Alshon Jeffery Jersey opening fire. The two police officers involved the shooting also gave differing accounts of which of them gave orders to Crawford III, who was speaking on his cell phone while standing aisle of the store a suburb of last month, and of Crawford’s final movements. The new findings were contained hundreds of pages of investigation file released to the Guardian by the Ohio attorney general’s office, following a grand jury’s decision last week not to indict the officer who shot Crawford, on criminal charges. Jurors considered reports contained the file, along with video surveillance footage and audio recordings.

The file gives the most detailed account far of how Crawford, 22, came to be killed on the evening of 5 based on the concerns of a couple, one of whom called 911 and claimed repeatedly that the 22-year-old was pointing the air rifle at shoppers. The caller later said that Crawford was waving it around. Reports from interviews of and the other officer who responded, sergeant Darkow, said that they apparently did not identify themselves as police to Crawford as they turned the corner into the aisle where he was standing. They specified that they shouted at Crawford repeatedly drop your weapon, drop your gun or drop the gun. Yet three witnesses separately said they heard one, less specific, command: Put it down, put it down. Crawford’s family have said surveillance footage suggests that while speaking on his phone, he not have heard order or realised that it was directed at him. One witness said she did hear police say drop your weapon; another said that he heard get down. A photo released by the Ohio attorney general’s office shows the Walmart aisle where Crawford III was killed. Photograph: Ohio bureau of criminal investigation a recording of the 911 call, a word that sounds like down is shouted as officers round a corner the Walmart, about a second before two shots ring out. Darkow confirmed to investigators that the time between the last command being given and shots being fired was fairly close. Popp, attorney for and Darkow, said: I don’t see issue with the choice of words. Mr Crawford was warned before shots were fired. People get details different. It doesn’t mean they’re lying; it means they remember it differently. Darkow also told his interviewers that before opening fire, he and separately instructed Crawford to put down the gun. Yet said that he did not recall personally giving any commands, and that only Darkow had done. Darkow further said that Crawford made a movement that seemed to indicate attempt to run or attempt to take cover just before the 22-year-old was shot. This description appears to be supported by the store surveillance footage, which was released last week.

Evgeni Malkin scored twice and Russia bounced back from a shootout loss to Slovakia

Menu VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Evgeni Malkin scored twice and Russia bounced back from a shootout loss to Slovakia, beating the Czech Republic 4 Sunday to reach the Olympic hockey quarterfinals. a rematch of the 1998 Olympic gold-medal game, won 1 by the Czechs, Russia scored every period to claim the top spot Group B with seven points. Malkin gave Russia a 1 lead the first and pushed it to 3 the third after a huge hit by teammate Chris Webber Jersey Alex Ovechkin freed the puck at center ice. Viktor Kozlov also scored for Russia, and Pavel Datsyuk added empty-netter off assists from Ovechkin and Malkin with 12 seconds remaining. Plekanec and Michalek had goals for the Czechs,. San ‘s Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves for the win. Czech counterpart Vokoun of Florida stopped 27 shots. Ovechkin, playing on a new line with Washington Capitals teammate Alexander Semin and Malkin, assisted on the first goal and then rocked Canada Hockey Place with a crushing hit on Jaromir Jagr. Jagr, who on Saturday called Ovechkin the best player the world, circled with the puck and was leveled when Ovechkin caught him high with his arm. Semin found Malkin the right circle for the goal at 1. Michalek converted Marek Zidlicky’s pass front to cut the Czech deficit to 3 with 5 left. The Czechs, who got the best of Russia four years ago Turin, Italy, when they won bronze, have to wait until the end of the Super Sunday tripleheader to find out if they have to play the qualification round. The Darren Collison Jersey three group winners and a wild card earn byes. Kozlov, a longtime NHL forward now playing Russia, took a bouncing pass from Alexander Radulov the slot and slapped a shot behind his back that caught Vokoun as he was shifting left and slid under the goalie’s glove with 5 left the second to make it 2. The game was nearly tied again just more than a minute later when a close shot by Jagr bounced around the crease and was briefly covered by Nabokov. The whistle blew before the puck entered the net. Russia sustained a double hit when Radulov boarded David Krejci but drove the Czech forward into teammate Sergei Zinovyev, whose left leg was bent under him. The teams traded power-play goals the first period, which Russia held a 12 shots advantage. Russia seemed to have more energy early, knowing it needed to win regulation to win Group B. The Czechs played with the cushion of needing only to reach overtime to secure a bye. After a holding call against Jagr, Malkin took advantage with his second of the tournament. Vokoun made a strong save on Ovechkin, but Malkin fired a shot while dropping to one knee at the bottom edge of the right circle and sneaked the puck under the goalie’s arm to make it 1 with 4 left. Jagr uncharacteristically protested the penalty on his way to the box and when he got out. He received no satisfaction from either referee, and one of them gave him a dismissive wave. Russia went 1 for 2 on first-period power plays, and the goal was its second 15 chances.

The Czechs received a pair of favorable calls 13 seconds apart for a 5-on-3 advantage. The second penalty, a questionable tripping infraction against Sergei Fedorov had Ovechkin and the rest of the Russian bench up and howling at the officials. Ovechkin had active first period as he played his high energy style. He absorbed a double check from and defenseman Pavel Kubina that crunched him against the glass and then was denied by Vokoun during a breakaway. Once on the bench, Ovechkin took off his helmet and doused his head with water. NOTES: Czech coach Vladimir Ruzicka captained the 1998 team that won Olympic gold. His Russian counterpart Vyacheslav Bykov also earned a gold medal as a player 1988 and 1992.

Published March 23 I rolled my wrist, Pedroia said Wednesday. I’ll take BP tomorrow and then play the next day. That’s it. I’m good. There’s nothing. It’s more spring training. It hurt at the time and then they just took me out of the game., no big deal. Pedroia sustained the injury the first inning, diving to snare a liner by Minnesota’s Denary Span. After getting to his feet, Pedroia launched errant throw, which careened off the protective fence front of the Red Sox dugout. He finished the inning but did not come out for the second. It’s a little sore, he said. I just landed weird. And I tried to get up and I couldn’t really get up. And I tried to throw it and I almost killed our dugout. But I’m fine. I’ll be alright. Pedroia was not scheduled to play Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates Bradenton. He did not take batting practice at City of Palms Park with members of the team who did not travel to Bradenton. I wasn’t going to play anyway. Tazawa pitched 203 for the Red Sox over the last three seasons and was shut down for the final three weeks

Well, we like him a lot, said Dave Dombrowski, president of baseball operations. We’re pleased to be able to get him, and we think it really gives us another power arm the bullpen. It gives us a lot more depth from the right-hand side. After signing Price to a seven-year, $217 million contract last week, Boston had overflow of starters. The Miley move took place just hours after it was reported that starter Hisashi Iwakuma is leaving the Mariners to sign with the Dodgers, so perhaps the Red Sox were able to pounce on Danilo Gallinari Jersey the timing of that. Smith is 26 years old, and Boston has contractual control over him for the next five seasons. What’s clearly different with this group is it’s deeper talent, it’s deeper performance and it’s deeper the ability to get strikeouts key spots, said Farrell. The one that’s going to benefit the most with both Kimbrel and Smith coming here is Junichi.

Tazawa pitched 203 for the Red Sox over the last three seasons and was shut down for the final three weeks of 2015 due to fatigue. Pitching 70, Smith notched a 2 while striking out 92 over 70 innings and holding opponents to a.194 average. The Mariners selected him the eighth round of the 2011 Draft. What do the Red Sox like most about him? Probably the combination of power stuff and unique arm slot, said Farrell. He reminds you a little of a number of years ago with the Yankees where he was a dominant reliever for a lot of years. It’s a unique combination with that low three-quarter arm slot and the power. Smith experienced some decrease his velocity late ’15, but Boston isn’t worried. I’m sure because of the year, first year, he’s gone start to finish against that type Dikembe Mutombo Jersey of caliber of hitter, it’s going to have some taxation to it that you typically a reliever, said Farrell. All our reports are very strong and very consistent, both terms of his physical abilities and what he is as a person. He’s everything we hoped to get a reliever. The Red Sox also get another promising arm the 27-year-old, who started 49 for the Mariners over the past two seasons. 51 career appearances, he is 15 with a 3. Miley, 29, went 11 with a 4 2015, his only with the Red Sox. Boston acquired him from Arizona last year at the Winter Meetings. The Mariners have good cost control with Miley, who earn $6 million 2016 and $8 million ’17, and has a club option for $12 million ’18. We improved our bullpen and also keep some depth with the acquisition. But Miley did a nice job for us, Dombrowski said. There’s no question about that. Any time you get a that pitches well, wins double-digit, pitches close to 200 innings and does a lot of things that help you, sure it is.

McCLAREN warned Derby fans to forget about automatic promotion his programme notes. And he probably stick to the same story for the rest of the despite a brilliant 85th-minute winner that keeps the Rams hunting down second-placed Burnley. A frustrated McClaren took off both Eustace and out-of-sorts Patrick Bamford – even though the striker has scored five seven games. McClaren, who takes his team to Turf Moor for a crunch clash with Burnley next Saturday, said: It’s great when you are looking on the bench and have the quality we have. We have got the quality within the squad to change and the second half we were just waiting for that one moment of quality and the end we got it. It was a brave move but McClaren was determined to give the biggest Championship crowd of the – 27 – something to remember. Bournemouth, who had created all the first-half chances, feel bitter that the winner came from acontroversial decision by ref Heywood. We feel hard done by with the goal and how it came about Howe Skipper Elphick stopped Hughes’ mazy dribble with what the Cherries, to a man, protested was a fair tackle. They angrily surrounded the official but, before they could regain their composure, had curled his 20-yarder into the top corner for his 14th league goal of the. But the Cherries must have been kicking themselves after unsettling Derby’s rhythm. Grabban and Tokelo Rantie both troubled the Derby defence, particularly Buxton, with their pace. The Rams skipper could hardly believe his luck after a mix-up with Grant. Grabban and Elphick also went close before Matt Ritchie shook the post and the Cherries missed out. Bournemouth boss Howe said: We feel hard done by with the goal and how it came about.

How close is the league? The Red are on pace to play 33 overtime

DETROIT – The Detroit Red have started capitalizing on a first-half schedule that’s stacked with home. The Red are at Arena, where they’ll be playing five of their next seven prior to the NHL’s three-day Christmas break. They are Mike Jenkins Jersey riding a 10-game points streak, their longest since a 12-game run 2010. They are scoring more and registering more shots. But separation won’t be easy a tight Atlantic Division. The Red face three Eastern Conference clubs this week – Washington, Montreal and New Jersey – that rank among the league’s top 10 goals-against average, the power play, the penalty kill and fewest shots allowed per game. Here are five things to watch this week: 1. Mr. Green goes to Washington Green returns to Washington on Tuesday. That’s where he played for 10 seasons as one of the league’s most prolific offensive defensemen. Green has shown flashes of his offensive ability since returning from a shoulder injury, with nine points 14. The teams split two at JLA last month – the Red prevailed 1 on Nov. 10 behind Petr Mrazek’s 38-save performance and the Capitals won 2 on Nov. 18 on Evgeny Kuznetsov’s overtime goal. Ovechkin has registered 21 of his league-high 124 shots against the Red. Braden Holtby leads the NHL wins and goals-against average. Washington is its past 10 vs. Detroit and has won five of its past six home against the Red. 2. overtime on tap?

How close is the league? The Red Oniel Cousins Jersey are on pace to play 33 overtime. They are tied for the league lead OT and OT wins – that includes one shootout win. Six of Detroit’s past seven and eight of 10 have gone to three-on-three overtime, which has been much better for the Red than the shootout has been recent years. These extra points be difference some teams making the playoffs and others missing out. 3. Trying to end drought vs. Price-less Habs The Red try to snap a seven-game losing streak against Eastern Conference-leading Montreal when the Canadiens visit Arena on Thursday. It’ll help not having to face goaltender Carey Price, the reigning NHL MVP, who’s out another month with a lower-body injury. Condon isn’t bad, at, with a 2 GAA and.913 save percentage. The Canadiens, led by Pacioretty and Plekanec, have a balanced and potent offense, ranking second the league goals per game. 4. Can Jurco establish himself lineup? -term injuries to Drew and Teemu Pulkkinen enabled Joakim Andersson and Jurco to get into the lineup on Saturday. Andersson likely continue to play because he kills penalties, but what about Jurco? Jurco, who’s appeared only six, have difficulty cracking the top nine. As as he’s on the fourth line, he’ll need to alter his offensive mindset to a more grinding role. He’ll need to skate, play physical and focus on not getting scored against. If he can’t adjust, the Red might be inclined to play someone from Grand Rapids. They are expected to recall a forward this week so they have extra case of injury. 5. Devils somewhat of a surprise The Devils, who’ve missed the playoffs three years a row after losing to the Los Kings the 2012 Stanley Cup finals, qualify as one of the season’s surprises at. The Red visit the Devils Friday. The game pit the league’s two youngest coaches – 40-year-old Jon Hynes and Blashill, who turns 42 on Thursday. The Red have won four a row vs. the Devils and are their past 14 against New Jersey, which is led by Cammalleri, who has 30 points.

Menu San Spurs reserve guard Manu Ginobili will sit out Thursday night against Oklahoma City, while Thunder center Perkins will return to action. Ginobili has missed 12 this season, but just since the All-Star break. When asked during pregame whether Ginobili was sitting because of an injury or to rest, Spurs coach Popovich simply said: He’s out. Ginobili, who averages 12 points and 4 assists per game, is not listed on the injury report. The Spurs played State on Wednesday night. Perkins, a defensive enforcer at 6-foot-10 and 270 pounds, has missed the past 17 with a left groin strain he suffered against the Miami Heat. He averages 3 points and 5 rebounds in just under 20 minutes per game.

The Frye deal boosts the Cavaliers for the playoffs

The Frye deal boosts the Cavaliers for the playoffs, they can cope better up front with State’s myriad matchup possibilities, but it also gives them more quality depth inside that could help them against a team like Detroit. Again, it’s easy to look at the broad regular season and overthink this. is built to win the postseason.

I can the Pistons Kam Chancellor Jersey winning a game or two from the Cavs a best-of-seven. But a Detroit-Toronto series goes and quite possibly wrong. Q: The Detroit Red have their annual family road trip inviting their fathers to travel with the team for a few , could you the Pistons ever allowing family to come along on a road trip for any reason? I ‘t know how much free time they have outside of preparing for playing traveling for.

As aside, do the rest of the traveling band ever bring family on these trips, or is everyone simply too busy at their jobs? Thanks. — Ishmael A: This is a first for Ask , at least on this end. I actually found myself raising eyebrows as I read this. I didn’t know the Red did what you described but I couldn’t care less about hockey, either. I cover basketball. When I’m not covering it, I’m probably reading about it, or watching it, or reading something else, or flying, or sleeping. I ‘t visit family or friends on the road, ‘t even reach out to them when I know I’m going to be their areas. I’ve visited one friend on the road five seasons on the beat, and that’s Kellen Davis Jersey because I was driving from San Antonio to Houston with a full day off and he sort of lives between. We had just enough time for a glorious lunch at a fast-food restaurant.

I had dinner with one reader on the road one time. The other Detroit beat writers and I went together and visited Alcatraz on a day off San Francisco once. That’s the extent of the social activities as I can remember them. I ‘t bring anyone to work with me. I can’t speak to what other people do. I’m working. As busy as player’s life is, they have more spare time than me and they travel much greater comfort and timelier fashion than I do. That said, I’ve run into a player having dinner on the road with his wife once since I’ve been on this beat, and that was Peyton Siva, Indianapolis, because his then-pregnant wife was still Louisville, where they went to college, and she met him there the night before a game against the Pacers. Maybe this is why the Pistons are going back home after Saturday’s game at Chicago and not leaving directly for Florida for the Tuesday-Wednesday back-to-back at Miami.
